This archipelago of seven islands is located south
west of Spain and just off the exotic Moroccan coast,
and combines the best of beaches, vacation weather,
culture, cuisine and sheer natural beauty.

The cultural influences of the Greeks, Romans and
the Spanish can be seen and felt today. The islands
are also supposed to have given birth to the Greek
myth of the Garden of Hesperides.
Besides, what other islands have a bird named after
them? Yes, the canary got its name from these exotic
islands.
Island of Lanzerote The islands are of volcanic origin;
in fact, the Teide volcano on the island of Tenerife
is the highest in Spain. Four of Spain’s thirteen
national parks are located in the Canaries.
The seven islands, namely Gran Canaria, Tenerife, Lanzarote, La Palma, La Gomera, Hierro and Fuerteventura, belong to Spain and are an autonomous community of that country.
The islands offer
a
variety of attractions. Check out the big-city feel
of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria or the volcanic terrain
on the UNESCO biosphere reserve of Lanzarote.
Wander through the misty laurel forest on La Gomera
or the three beautiful museums on Santa Cruz de Tenerife.
And of course, a whole host of water sports like snorkeling,
scuba diving, deep sea fishing, windsurfing and sailing
will enthrall you when you are not lazing on the beach!
Weather: The Canary Islands enjoy spring like weather
all year-round, with little variation. Temperatures,
on an average, hover around 18C to 24C or 64F to 75F.
Gran Canaria, Tenerife and La Palma see some tropical rains occasionally, whereas Fuerteventura and Lanzarote are dry and have sunshine almost every day of the year.
