The oldest Bulgarian winter resort is Borovets, where have new ski apartments for sale, has a history from 1896. Today Borovets is the biggest and most modern resort in Bulgaria. It is situated on the Borovets col and on the northern slopes of the Mousala ridge in the eastern part of Rila. Situated in venerable pine woods, 1,390m above sea level (with the highest pistes at 2,600m), Borovets is a perfect place for relaxation and recreation. Winter in the resort is mild and the average temperature during the coldest month, January is 4.8ºC. Usually the slopes of Borovets have snow cover from mid-December till April. The air in Borovets is clear and free of any pollutants. In the summer Borovets is just as marvelous. It offers everything a perfect vacation needs: clean and fresh air, serene centuries-old pine forests, green meadows sprinkled with fragrant flowers and herbs, blue lakes and majestic snow-capped peaks. For nature-lovers the resort is a favorite vacation spot and starting point of many hiking routes in the Rila Mountains. And when the sun has gone down, the resort begins to pulse with the numerous lights of the nightlife. You can choose to travel to Borovets either by bus or by car. A long first class road connects it with Samokov and Sofia (the capital of Bulgaria) is just 72km away. There is a regular bus transport for Samokov every 30 minutes.

The excellent equipment for ski sports attracts thousands of mountain lovers from Bulgaria and abroad. There is a variety of runs, ranging in difficulty and length. The ski pistes are grouped in three regions: Sitnqkovo – Martinovi Baraki, Markudjik with four pistes and Qstrebec with three pistes. The resort is a regular host to various winter sports competitions and has twice hosted World Cup competitions in Alpine skiing. Its biathlon track is one of the best in Europe.

ATMs are available at the resort and accept Visa, MasterCard, Cirrus and Maestro cards.

Borovets, an Alpine type resort, has developed into a modern ski resort with luxury hotels, restaurants, discos, shops and a good choice of pistes and lifts. Skiing, night-skiing, snowboarding, cross-country skiing, ski jumps and biathlon and ski-doo are all available in the resort and there are ski runs available for beginners, intermediates and advanced skiers, designed with international markings and multi-lingual signs. Pistes are bashed and maintained to the high standard.

Après Ski
Borovets is full of bars, cafes, night clubs, and discos. Music played is mostly international dance music. There are restaurants and taverns with Bulgarian national folk music and 'horo' dancing.

Medical and Dental Service
The Emergency ski patrol service is available 24 hours a day. Ambulance and clinic (with doctor and nurses) are available, as well as first aid serving on all ski slopes. There is also a fully equipped and functioning hospital available in Samokov and highly qualified dentists are available at the resort too.

Some medical and all dental services must be paid by cash. They should provide the necessary bills, receipts and invoices describing the service and the cost, so that you can claim back the expense to your insurance company. It's recommended you call your insurance company and inform them in case of injury. Please follow their instructions.
